“If the Govt believes that the threat of UAPA, NSA or years behind bars will scare us into silence, it won’t,” Dipke said in a post on X, adding that the protesters were prepared to spend “months or years in jail” but would not back down from their campaign to “save democracy”.He further said that they follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi and continue to resist “peacefully and non-violently”, despite what he described as attempts by the state to intimidate them. The developments come amid the CJP-led campaign against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The protesters have been demanding accountability from chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the exercise and have announced further mobilisation on October 10 in Delhi.
